The Rebranding is here!

Peter:

What's up, everybody? Welcome to the podcast. Although that is the last time we're probably gonna say this, not because it's the last podcast, but because we got a name. Yes. This is the episode we teased you all with.

Peter:

We have gone high and low. We have hired expensive consultants. We reached out to Apple's marketing crew. We borrowed their truck and went on a a regular jaunt around America trying to find the name. We have our new marketing name here, our new branding, and I'm not gonna be the one to announce it.

Peter:

I think that this honor should go to Geoff, and he will do also, explain it a little bit because, well, you will see. Hello, Geoff. How are you doing, buddy?

Geoff:

I'm doing just great. And, yeah, we we came up with we we really workshopped this forever.

Peter:

Yep.

Geoff:

Came up with a name that we think it's gonna be perfect. We think you're all gonna love it.

Peter:

We spent a fortune on this. Right?

Geoff:

Yeah. Oh, yeah. Fortune, tons of money, tons of just late nights Yeah. Just really racking our brains.

Peter:

All the feedback from the listeners that we asked for, that that that didn't turn up, actually.

Geoff:

We we we we hired that one guy that redid the Pepsi logo and and had all the crazy diagrams.

Peter:

Yeah. And then had this idea for, like, oh, wait. Let's call it new Pepsi. Yeah. Alright.

Peter:

Go for it.

Geoff:

Alright. So the new podcast name for this podcast that we've done together, that we've been working on for several weeks at this point. Oh, yeah. Brand new, completely original branding that we've come up with is the Compile Swift podcast.

Peter:

Oh, damn. That's good.

Geoff:

That is I I was thinking, like, man, it's it's classic. It's simple. It's straightforward. Why didn't It's brilliant.

Peter:

Why didn't we stop there? Right? Oh. I think we did something. Yeah.

Peter:

Yeah. Okay. So, there's a story here. Of course, there's always a story. Right?

Peter:

Yes. This was in

Geoff:

so, actually, I feel has a story.

Peter:

I feel like yeah. I mean, I I I can't justify this.

Geoff:

I can't I'm I'm not gonna

Peter:

try and justify it. I'll just explain it, and then we'll let the judges decide. All of this, of course, was because one wanted to expand the content beyond just Swift. Right? And and that's how it started.

Peter:

And then yeah. So to be clear, right, the the it's kinda like the the the branding subtitle here is old name, same new content, which just doesn't you know? It it's like those weird chip flavors that they bring out for a couple of weeks. Right? You know?

Peter:

So, yes, that that that's what we're going with. We decided that it was right the first time, and we should never have let that idiot access to rename the chat rename the podcast in the hosting. We banned that guy. He's not coming back. He's on an island somewhere.

Peter:

Something like that. Yeah. Never shall my evil twin ever be let in front of the microphone again. So, yes, folks. That that's what it is.

Peter:

Right? We decided, look. It was working. Okay? You know?

Peter:

Why why why why did why did we let Peter do what Peter did? It seemed like such a good idea. And then, you know, reality. But but the reality is, in all truthfulness, right, being serious for a moment, it did just work the first time around. And that that, in in a way, was part of the the success and the problem.

Peter:

Right? Anytime you have something that you know, like I said in that episode, look. I don't wanna be known as the compile swift guy, and that's what happened. On the plus side, everybody knew what compile swift was. Right?

Peter:

And so it also worked. And then after we, you know, discussed it and and and Geoff had very kindly pointed out that, you know, it was working. You know? So, we decided, okay. Let's go with the original.

Geoff:

Sometimes sometimes in order to prove a point, all you need is a nice chart.

Peter:

Yeah. Yeah. And and and this is the so, you know, actually, you you you say that, and you point that out because we should tell folks, there's another number that and on the chart that well, well, in general, the line on the chart suggests that there was a big consistent spike growth, bigger than it was before when when Geoff joined the podcast. And it's okay.

Geoff:

I don't think that's actually true.

Peter:

Actually, it is true because I when you look at the numbers, it's like, oh, yeah. Look at that look at that first thirty days of each episode. And funny enough, for the most part, right, I mean, the other earlier episodes that were just me, they have similar numbers, but it took a lot longer to get there. Right? And so it really is true that for the that when you joined us us?

Peter:

When you joined us, oh my god. I'm talking in the third person now. The numbers the the first thirty days sort of the average has gone up and stayed there. And not to say that this is all about the numbers, but as you accurately point out, sometimes they tell the story. Right?

Peter:

The truth is that things got a lot more interesting when we have two hosts. Right? And I and I think we all knew this, and we we all felt this. Right? In fact, Geoff Geoff and I had often said, you know, some of our favorite podcasts are when it's more than one person.

Peter:

Right? Not that one person isn't interesting, depending on what they're talking about and so on, but it's much more dynamic when you have two people, especially if they have two different viewpoints, which is what works so well for us. I have my viewpoint, and then Geoff points out the correct viewpoint to have. Right?

Geoff:

Geoff Geoff Geoff points out the flaws in your viewpoint.

Peter:

Yeah. Same same same difference. Right? And then I edit it down so that there's less pointing out of those flaws. So, not a long episode here, folks, but we wanted to put this out.

Peter:

And and so that's it, folks. There you go. Short episode here, but we wanted to make sure that this super important topic was clear and understandable, and we could all point to this in the future and go, yeah. That's where it got weird. Right?

Peter:

So that's it. That's what we've got for you on this one. There's lots of things to talk about, in the coming episodes coming up. Other than that, as always, you can find me, if they let me back on the keyboard, at PeterWidom.com and all the stuff that I do there. Geoff, where can they find you?

Geoff:

You can find me at cocoatype.com .

Peter:

Alright. We will see and speak to you again next time on the Compile Swift podcast. I know I know it's gonna be hard to get used to, but but just roll the clock back about, what, four months, and and you're fine. See you again soon, everybody.

Geoff:

See you.
